On the first of March 2009 3 products within the Aderma range (heels, sacrums and single strips) were added to the NHS Supply Chain Logistics. This reflects the health service’s confidence in the product and dedication to the brand, as being listed on the supply chain now allows orders to come directly from all departments and wards in every trust within the UK.

In little under 19 months FPD Medical have received nearly 2,500 orders for heels, 450 for sacrums and over 150 for single strips, giving a total of over 3,000 orders. As a result over 40,000 individual pressure relieving pads have been supplied to patients with a subsequent improvement to their quality of life. These figures are shared between 159 trusts (54 of those being new purchasing points acquired in the last 3 months) in 290 departments.

FPD Medical are also working with acute trusts to merge the Aderma range with their pressure ulcer prevention protocols allowing specific trusts to order and hold Aderma stock. One 4 hospital, combined trust has successfully incorporated Aderma into their formulary providing them with the opportunity to continue towards standardisation of the practice of skin protection across their Trust.

CEO Dr Craig Barson shares his delight on Aderma’s success with the NHS Supply Chain and the incorporation into some trusts pressure ulcer prevention protocols:-

“Obviously being added to the NHS Supply Chain is great news for both us and the Trusts involved; it symbolises their and the health service’s endorsement of Aderma and verifies their belief and commitment to the brand.
Everyone at FPD Medical are delighted with the news.”

The Aderma Dermal Pad brand is also proud to have been shortlisted in this year’s Nursing Times Product Award 2010. Winners will be announced at the awards evening on the 3rd November 2010, Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.

“This year the entries have shown more commitment to quality, safer care and professionalism than ever before and our judges have had a tough task to narrow down the entries to the extremely deserving shortlist.”
