Bruntwood secures new letting in Hepworth Point office space
Planning permission has now been secured to convert the 10-storey office building into a 131-room Premier Inn hotel. Around 50 new jobs will be created in Spring 2012, when the hotel is scheduled to open to the public.
Leeds Arena plans
Located at the northern side of Leeds city centre, Hepworth Point is on Claypit Lane. It stands opposite the Leeds Arena development, which is under construction and is scheduled to be unveiled in 2013.
Craig Burrow, head of sales and development at Bruntwood, commented: "Hepworth Point was first designed as a hotel, but has never been used as one. This is a fantastic opportunity to return the building to its intended use as well as make a contribution to the Leeds Arena project, which we have been an active participant in planning."
The Next retail group famously established their Leeds headquarters in Hepworth Point, which was built to a design by architect John Poulson. Poulson also designed City House, a new 120,000 sq ft Bruntwood acquisition in Leeds, where refurbishment plans have recently been unveiled for the iconic building situated right on top of the train station. City House is intended to provide sustainable, high specification office space to rent.
Creating Bruntwood's Leeds office space
Mr Burrow added: "We've just submitted a planning application for our renovation of City House; this is part of our dedication to expanding our facilities in Leeds and providing the city's businesses with perfect office space. We're now actively seeking potential chances to acquire further Leeds office space, as our clients continue to respond positively to the Bruntwood way of doing business."
