The brainchild of pioneering developers Bliss - the creative force behind the project, 25 Hurst Avenue is a property consisting of two separate family residences, each approximately 4,000 sq ft of inspiring and innovative space. Based on a modern sustainable lifestyle, 25 Hurst Avenue is a refreshing, original and distinctive property built using innovative, sustainably focused construction process methods and materials which form the core of the development.

These methods allowed for a short and efficient build programme where the main superstructure took six men just six days to build a modern masterpiece with minimal space, noise and disruption to the local community. See http://blissspace.co.uk/latest.html for a video link showing the fascinating construction process.

This inspiring environmentally-friendly development features a number of cutting-edge materials, including the award-winning sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood and preservative treated wood, Kebony. 25 Hurst Avenue is the first UK residential project for Cleantech 100 company, Kebony ASA. Its non-toxic, maintenance-free, durable and aesthetically pleasing wood product has been used throughout for exterior cladding, outdoor decking and garden furnishings, such as the post box, garden gates and refuse bin stores. Kebony has a minimal carbon footprint, producing just 10% of the CO2 emissions of the production of Brazilian Clear Fell Ipê.

Other green technologies include the KLH cross-laminated timber panels that form the structure of the build, omitting the need for steel supports or a concrete frame and the vast energy outlay that comes with using concrete. As the first UK private residential development of this scale and price range to use KLH’s innovative product, its sustainable wooden frame intrinsically stores carbon. The timber used to manufacture the panels will have removed approximately 52 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere. Offsetting the CO2 emissions from transporting the timber will still show a net 'gain' of around 47 tonnes for the project. KLH UK's solid timber construction is one of the simplest methods of contributing to a low-carbon, carbon-neutral, or even carbon-negative construction.

Designed for inspirational and open living, the layout of the property draws on that of a Moroccan Riad bringing the outside ‘in’ through sliding glass walls which afford spectacular open views over playing fields and Tennis court courtesy of its picturesque elevated position. A separate Garden Lodge with an additional 400 sq ft of studio living space incorporating en suite shower room compliments the substantial living space. Contemporary outdoor furniture from Gloster’s new range provide stylish outdoor living spaces. The development is truly unique – imaginative yet elegant. Careful interior design has created a personal and harmonious space that features a beautiful Fromental handcrafted silk wallpaper installation which shimmers like travertine marble perfectly complimenting the flawless polished resin Puur flooring and statement Frandsen lighting.

Daniel Broch, Founder of Bliss comments: “Our design ethos and aspirations drive our thinking where we are determined to provide elegant, contemporary spaces fit for 21st century living; 25 Hurst Avenue reflects our thinking perfectly.”

25 Hurst Avenue is an extraordinary three-floor property featuring a ground floor kitchen and family living space, 1000 sq ft double aspect living area, master suite, three further en-suite bedrooms, a utility room, guest WC and additional 400 sq ft Garden Lodge.

The property is the first UK residential project to use award-winning tropical hardwood substitute, Kebony and the first UK private residential development of this scale and price range to use KLH. 25 Hurst Avenue is built on the former home of Richard Hamilton, creator of Brit Pop Art and the creative genius behind the cover design and poster collage for the Beatles' White Album.

Kebony wood is an award-winning sustainable alternative to endangered tropical hardwoods like teak and preservative treated timber. This revolutionary wood product is used for decking, cladding, roofing, windows, indoor and outdoor furniture, yacht decking and other construction materials. Architects and developers appreciate the beauty, durability and versatility of Kebony wood combined with its green credentials - aesthetics vary from the rustic Scots Pine to the more traditional Southern Yellow Pine or Maple. Kebony ASA is the global clean tech company behind the Kebony product – through an environmentally-friendly process of ‘Kebonization’ wood species such as maple, pine and beech are given the same aesthetical and physical properties as rain forest timber.

Bliss uses vision and expertise as developers and development managers to transform spaces and lives through brilliant thinking and innovative methodology. Bliss combines development and funding expertise and experience to facilitate projects and produce remarkable places and spaces with soul; simply, they create Spaces for Life.
